Founded in 1969 as M&S Computing, Inc, Intergraph set out to solve one of the most difficult problems of the time - how to put a man on the moon.
Intergraph was assisting NASA and the US Army in developing systems that would apply digital computing to real-time missile guidance.
From this initial work Intergraph pioneered the development of computer graphics systems, which allowed engineers to display and interact with drawings and associated
alphanumeric information. As the reputation of the company and technology quickly grew, Intergraph became recognized as the pioneer in the emerging field of interactive
computer graphics. Leveraging the technology and intellectual capital developed through their early work, Intergraph launched the inaugural version of their original core graphics
software, the Interactive Graphics Design System (IGDS).
In 1980, the company changed its name from M&S Computing to Intergraph Corporation - reflecting the dedication to interactive graphics and became publicly owned in 1981,
trading on the NASDAQ market under the symbol INGR.
