The Cyrix 486DLC Processor
The Cyrix 486DLC is pin compatible to the Intel i386DX. While the internals of the 486DLC are roughly equivalent to those in the i486SX, the bus interface is identical to that of the Intel 386DX, respectively to allow easy replacement of the Intel CPUs by the Cyrix chips. The overall execution speed is about same as with an i486SX, but if you add a matching Cyrix FPU, e.g. a Cyrix 83D87, the speed is about 50% faster than an i486DX running at the same frequency.

Where is the 486 DLC2 -50 and the 486SLC2 -50? There was a turbo/upgrade card for the IBM PS/2 model 30/286. This IBM was a crap computer in standard guise. With the upgrage card raising the bar to 486 DLC2 -50 (but only running at 20MHz), the computer was still crap. Yes, the 486 DLC2 has the pin-for-pin out of a 386DX, and the brains/smarts of a 486SX2 inside. But with its 286 converted to 486, and its 10-clock doubled to 20-clock, the "real-world" MS-Windows apps. were only 10%-50% faster. Sure our benchmarking apps. agreed with the 8x (800%) boost, but those MS-apps. didn't run even 2x (200%) faster at all. So I say, once a "boat-anchor", always a boat-anchor. I read about the 486SLC2 -50 being a pin-for-pin out of a 386SX, with the brains of a 486SX2 inside, but never saw it implemented in any desktop computer, only the IBM laptops! The last of the last 386SX m/boards that I saw, were running the AMD386SX -40, with motherboard cache (8k). Since the AMD didn't have L1 cache, but the Cyrix/IBM did have L1 cache, why didn't they make no-name desktop m/boards with 25MHz clock for the SLC2 -50 chips???

the Cx486SLC/e was packaged in a unique package named `MQUAD` developed and produced by Olin Interconnect Technologies. The package had a black-anodized lid and base that was attached to the leadframe with an adhesive seal. The characteristic sign of the package was the circular pattern in the center of the lid (as in the picture). This was actually a small anodized aluminum disk that was used to seal a vent hole in the package lid (venting was required during the cure of the adhesive seal). The MQUAD package offered superior thermal performance due to its aluminum body - but was relatively short-lived as it was a non-standard package technology.

Cyrix Cx486 DRx Processors
Cyrix DRx² chips are clock-doubled versions of the Cyrix DLC processors and thus the most effective way to upgrade an i386DX based system. With its clock-doubling feature, the upgrade processor effectively doubles a 386 computer's internal processor speed without requiring a new motherboard. It also delivers other performance enhancements such as 1K on-chip cache with Cyrix cache coherency technology, single cycle instruction execution, and a hardware integer multiplier. These features can boost application performance up to 70% and more.

The Cyrix 486DX Processor
The Cyrix Cx486DX was designed to be completely software-compatible with Intel's i486DX processor. It is not just an Intel clone but a completely new design by Cyrix. Compared to the i486DX the Cx486DX had an improved cache algorithm and therefore was faster in specific applications. The price for a Cx486DX was a little lower than for Intel's 486DX and made the processor a very common i486DX alternative.

I'm wondering what "fastcache" stands for ? and why is it only 2Kb instead of 8Kb
 
The Cyrix 486S is a i486SX compatible processor with 2kB write back cache. All the other cpus on the market at this time had no write back cache. The 486S also had a special signal (write burst), the usage of this depends on the motherboard design. These both things brought cyrix a speed up of around 6% (to a i486SX).
